Historical and Architectural Preservation Credit (CHAP) is a property tax for homeowners and businesses making substantive rehabilitation on projects in historic neighborhoods. It is stackable with other credits and transferable.
CHAP is a 10-year tax credit on the increased assessment directly resulting from qualifying improvements. The credit for projects with construction costs less than $3.5 million is 100 percent, and for projects more than $3.5 million in construction costs, it is 80 percent. All work must be approved by Enterprise Zone administrators.
As the Baltimore Development Corporation is on the same network as other city government agencies, we are unable to receive email through our regular email addresses. For questions about this tax credit, please contact us by phone at 410-837-9305 or via email at BDCgeneralinfo@gmail.com.
