The Façade Improvement Grant (FIG) provides matching funds to help business and property owners improve the exterior appearance of commercial and industrial properties throughout Baltimore City.

Overview

The Façade Improvement Grant supports exterior building improvements that enhance commercial properties, strengthen neighborhood business districts, and encourage private investment.

FIG is offered in several variants based on property type and location. All grants are reimbursement-based and require approval before work begins. Grant awards are subject to available funding and are made at the sole discretion of BDC.

Eligible Improvements

Funding may be available for eligible exterior improvements, including building façades, storefront improvements, signage, awnings, and other approved exterior work.

A property’s building type and use determine which FIG it is eligible for, not applicant preference. Each option has its own eligibility requirements and award maximums, and your BDC representative can help you understand which FIG your project property qualifies for.

Most FIG variants are 1:1 matching grants, and all require some amount of investment by the applicant – please see the FIG Terms & Conditions for more details.
